Unanimous verdict from judges in Short Story Slam final

The panel of judges in the final of the Manx Litfest Short Story Slam chose Endurance by Benjamin Hickey as the winner on Sunday.

It was a unanimous vote for the humorous short story of a supermarket worker with a hangover.

The team of four judges featured writer and journalist Paul Speller, author Angela Roberts, retiring head of the Isle of Man’s Mobile Family Library Sandra Henderson and Zeba Clarke, author and head of English at King William’s College.

Entrants were required to read their short stories within a six-minute time limit.

The final took place at Noa Bakehouse in the Isle of Man, after Paul and Angela judged the heats a week earlier.
