Press Release: Join the pirate crew at the Family Library this summer!

There’s a Summer of Adventure at the Family Library this year, with a pirate crew of young readers setting sail in July.

The library has announced this year’s Summer Reading Scheme will be on a theme of We Be Pirates. The scheme will run from July 2 to September 10.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘We have lined up lots of pirate fun for all ages.

‘We’d like people to register as soon as they can, although there is no cut-off. They’ll receive a Pirate Pack to start their adventure and we’ll make sure they’re ship shape for their crew.’

As ever, there will be the five book reading challenge for those taking part.

Participants will have the chance to make a donation to the Family Library, which is run as a charity, to help meet the costs of the scheme.

Postcards are being distributed to primary schools with information on the scheme.

Asked if the staff at the Family Library were looking forward to being pirates this summer, Mary added: ‘Yes we arrrrrrr!’
