The Isle of Man Flower Festival 2015 has drawn to a close after a successful week – but there is still time to enter the photographic competition.
Thousands of visitors saw displays across the 17 venues taking part last week (July 5-11). Many took photographs of the imaginative exhibits and there is still time to submit photographs before the August 1 deadline.
Entries are for digital photographs of flower displays using this year’s festival theme of Our Community. Up to four entries are allowed per person and should be emailed, together with details of the photographer and where the picture was taken, to firstname.lastname@example.org
Flower Festival committee chairman Judy Matthews said: ‘We have seen hundreds of pictures posted on social media already, so we are really looking forward to entries for the photographic competition.’
She thanked the organisers and volunteers at all the venues for the 2015, as well as the many visitors.
‘The festival appears to have been a great success,’ said Judy. ‘I have heard several times that this year has seen more variety, community involvement, outstanding displays, and warm welcomes.
‘I have been amazed by what I have seen, from the expert displays done mainly by the flower clubs to the smaller interpretations, all impressive in different ways.’
She said she was also pleased to see that school children had been involved at a number of venues.
Judy also thanked Culture Vannin and Connect2Charity for their support of this year’s event.
You can view pictures from many of the displays at the Isle of Man Flower Festival Facebook page or the website www.flowerfest.im which also has details of the photographic competition.
